What to bring
To get your tax return on the spot, you need to help our team by bringing certain documents and information with you, depending on your situation.
We call these:
- the essentials;
- the extras; and
- new client information.
The essentials
If you’re a new or existing client, please bring:
- Pay as You Go (PAYG) Summary;
- Payment Summary - if you’re a subcontractor;
- Employment Termination Statements (if your employment was terminated);
- Centrelink Statement of Benefits - including pensions, job start etc;
- Bank Interest - contact your bank to find out the exact amount or bring your bank statements with you;
- Receipts – it’s important to provide receipts to your accountant when making claims;
- Photo identification – if you want your refund on the spot
The extras
As well as the essentials, if you want your tax refund on the spot (if applicable), you may also need to bring:
- Child Support Statement – if you’re paying Child Support Maintenance, please bring along a current statement from the Child Support Agency.
- Centrelink Government Debt – if you have a debt, or the matter is with a collection agency, please bring that documentation with you.
- Debt Free Statement – if you’ve repaid a debt, in part or full, to a Government Body or the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), please bring your current debt free statement or receipt to confirm payment.
If you forget any of this information, our team will need to make phone calls to confirm your credit worthiness before processing your return. This may delay your refund cheque if we cannot confirm you are debt free. So, bringing the information with you makes it much quicker for you and easier for us.
New client information
Lastly, if you’re a new client and want a tax refund on the spot, we may need to make additional calls to check your credit worthiness. So if you do owe money to any government department, please bring in your statement of debt. An additional $10 search fee may apply if you are using Tax Tips for the first time and you are paid your tax refund on the spot.
